'The Histories and Poems of Shakespeare' and 'The Tragedies of Shakespeare' were both published in 1925, with 'The Comedies of Shakespeare' being published in 1927. This collection was published by Humphrey Milford at the Oxford University Press. Milford was an English editor who was publisher to the University of Oxford and head of the London branch of the Oxford University Press between 1913 and 1945. He strived to make OUP a major worldwide publisher, with a focus on educational material for the general public. He was knighted for his contributions in 1936. This particular collection features Shakespeare's work in a clear, concise format. 'The Histories and Poems of Shakespeare' is comprised of many different works, including The Life and Death of King John, The Tragedy of King Richard the Second, as well as a chapter on Shakespeare's Sonnets. 'The Tragedies of Shakespeare' contains works such as King Lear, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet.
