The novel follows the adventures of Mr. Jorrocks, a wealthy and somewhat eccentric grocer who is an avid fox hunter. The story is set in the fictional town of Handley Cross and revolves around Mr. Jorrocks's efforts to organize and participate in a hunt. His enthusiasm for hunting and his interactions with various characters in the community drive the plot, leading to a series of comedic and entertaining events.
