Two women are kept prisoners in a lonel house in the country and a man in a madhouse somewhere else, and a sort of scientific maniac plays tricks that enable the book to cover multiple years. Of course, there is a love story, and the lovers are well worth reading about and the story will satisfy all who do not care whether the limit of improbability is reached or not.
