Akhenaten's Family Worshipping the Sun God Atun

King Akhenatun is the first king to lead a religious revolution in ancient Egypt. By forgoing the old Gods of Egypt and taking the "Atun or" Sun God" as the one and only deity. In this scene the king is seated in front of the famous queen Nefertiti, whose name means "a beautiful woman has come" together with their three daughters. The original relief is found in the museum of Berlin . They ruled together in the 14 century BC.


She and her husband established the cult of Atun, the sun god, and promoted Egyptian artwork that was rad ically different from its predecessors.


A bust of Nefertiti is one of the most iconic symbols of Egypt and is shown in the Berlin museum aswell.
The King & Queen are depicted holding there children while the sun god basks on the royal family and sun rays almost touching their faces.


Some of the rays are showing hands at the end while the ones almost touching the king & queen's faces are showing the " Ankh" the symbol of life in ancient Egyptian mythology.
